Frequently asked questions

How do I rank up faster in Rocket League?
Cut the mistakes that cost goals before chasing flashy mechanics. Below the top ranks, most games are decided by rotation, boost management, challenges and kickoffs. Unravel rates every match you play and shows which of those held you back, so you know what to change up in your next game.
Why am I hardstuck in Rocket League?
Usually because the same few habits repeat every match: overcommitting, running out of boost, losing challenges, getting caught upfield. One replay rarely shows it, but a pattern across many matches does. Unravel keeps a rating for every match you play, so the part of your game that stays low stands out. Read more
What should I practice in Rocket League?
Whatever is costing you the most games. Every replay gets a rating per category, and the lowest one points at the whiffs and mistakes behind it. Unravel does the heavy lifting; you take one fix into free play and your next game.
Does Unravel work at my rank?
Yes, from Bronze to Supersonic Legend. Which stats count, and which way is better, is learned from 36,000 recent ranked replays across every rank. The SSL baseline only sets where the top of the scale sits. Read more
How do I analyze a Rocket League replay?
Run Unravel, save a replay, and it parses the match and shows a full stat breakdown. No upload, no account.
Is Unravel free?
Yes. Unravel is a free desktop app, currently in beta, for Windows and Linux.
Does it work on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or Mac?
Unravel runs on Windows/Linux and requires standard Rocket League .replay files. While you cannot export these directly from a console menu, there is a workaround. Link your console and PC to the same Epic Games account and your recent games sync to your Match History. Open Rocket League on your PC and save the replay from there. (PS4/PS5 players can also extract replay files manually via a USB drive and community decryption tools.)
Can I get banned for using Unravel?
No. Unravel does not inject into, read the memory of, or modify Rocket League in any way. It only reads the standard .replay files the game saves on your hard drive after a match. You do not need BakkesMod.
How is Unravel different from ballchasing.com or RL Tracker?
RL Tracker shows your MMR and ballchasing.com gives you raw stats. Unravel interprets those stats for you: it runs locally on your PC, rates each match and points at what to fix, based on what actually wins games at your rank.
Does it need an account or internet connection? Are my replays private?
No account is needed and your replays stay 100% private. Parsing happens offline on your own machine: your replay files never leave your computer and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only network calls Unravel makes are for updates and optional error logging.
My Rating is below 100. Am I bad?
No. A rating of 100 represents the average performance of SSL players. Unless you are in the top rank, your rating is supposed to be under 100. Instead of worrying about the raw number, watch your personal trend line and focus on whichever category drops the lowest. Read more
Does Unravel tell me what I should have done?
No, it tells you which part of your game needs work. Rocket League is situational: the right play depends on too many factors for a statistic to judge. Across your replays, though, the categories that keep dragging stand out, and those are what to practice.

Your next replay already knows why you're stuck.
